2024 Wasenhaus Spatburgunder Kanzel, 750ml
A Pinot Noir on limestone clay soil grown on the Ehrenstetter Olberg. The Kanzel is a part of the old Olberg with a slighter more east orientation as the Möhlin, directly on the top of a limestone cliff. This vineyard is a bit colder and less exposed to the sun, half is from a French selection massale planted by Dr. Henrik Mobitz and half from old vines from German clones. Fermentation with 40 % whole clusters, with the Germans being left whole and the french destemmed...in the beginning as a carbonic maceration and afterwards in a classic open vat fermentation with some punch downs. Aged in mainly used French oak barrels for 16 months. A historic bottling. -vB
