Roknar Minnesota Rye is a bold, small-batch whiskey crafted from non-GMO AC Hazlet Winter Rye and heirloom corn, all planted and harvested by head distiller Michael Swanson. With a mash bill of 80% rye, it’s aged 16 months in 15-gallon charred oak barrels and finished in Cognac casks to create a distinctive regional style. On the nose, it opens with warm notes of brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla bean, followed by roasted almonds and fresh oak. The palate is smooth and expressive, layering smoked ham, balsa wood, and a touch of soft-baked pretzel. A lingering finish of star anise adds a final, warming touch to this ambitious northern rye.
