2023 Hammelmann Spätburgunder 'vom Loess', 750ml

The vintage was good but not great for Pinot Noir – thus the Grand Cru was declassified into the village, and the village was declassified into this, the “vom Löss” bottling.

Sourced from various parcels in Hochstadt that have more löss than limestone. This is a lighter, energetic and rustic Spätburgunder, with smoky and herbal aromatics lifted by bright red fruit. The wine has some edges and structure – a very fine tannic grip. -vB
