2020 Jean-Christophe Jezequel Sauvignon, 750ml

Exciting things are happening in Faverolles-sur-Cher, a small village in the Loire Valley, France. Winemaker Jean-Christophe’s first vintage was in 2019 but he previously studied with some of the region's greats, Herve Villemade and Capriades. This wine is 100% sauvignon blanc fermented and aged in neutral oak barrels. The beauty of this wine is that it’s made in a completely different style than one would normally expect from this variety in the Loire. The neutral oak ensures no vanilla or cinnamon-like flavors affect this wine’s profile, which could stand up to some of the best white burgundy (chardonnay) or chenin blanc  - it’s full of texture that’s balanced by its own minerality and acidity.

Notes of white Pomelo, sage and hay jump straight from the glass. It’s silky and refreshing, a dynamically thirst-inducing combination in white wine. It’s meant to sip and savor over a creamy cheese plate or seared river trout with winter citrus - please enjoy with great conversation.
