Pierre Fenals was called to make wine after stumbling across a text about biodynamic farming at a Parisian flea market. Enlightened by the words of Rudolph Steiner, he quit his Parisian fashion job at 52 and bought the tiny parcel in Maranges that this wine is made from. At his domain in St-Aubin, Pierre keeps tradition alive by rubbing his barrels with lees (or yeasts) from the previously fermented wines. A technique developed by 17th century monks, it is also where the domain gets its name “Belles Lies.”

In Burgundy, Pinot Noir can have mind breaking multiplicities of expression. The personality of the Pinot Noir grown in this area by Pierre is direct and effusive - notes of rose, strawberry, violet and pepper.
